Using a glue gun, attach the galax leaves to the papier-mâché form. Start at the top. The first row should cover the lip of the container, overlapping it by about half an inch. Work around the container creating a row.
|
| 2. |
Once the top row is complete, cover the rest of the container one row at a time. Each row should slightly overlap the one above, creating a pattern.
|
| 3. |
Tie the raffia in a bow around the base of your container. |
| 4. |
Saturate the floral foam with water. Insert the foam into the liner, making sure it fits snugly. Place the liner into the papier-mâché form. |
| 5. |
Cut the eucalyptus stems at an angle, allowing them to absorb water better. Insert the eucalyptus at a 90°angle into the floral foam making a crown around the edge of the container. The eucalyptus will overlap the edge of the container. |
| 6. |
Cut the stems of the viburnum at an angle. Insert into the floral foam just behind the eucalyptus, making a row. |
| 7. |
Cut the stems of the seafoam statice at an angle. Insert into the floral foam just above the viburnum, making a third row. Once it dries, the statice will keep its beautiful purple color and can be re-used. |
| 8. |
Using a knife, make a point at the blunt end of the meat skewers (save one blunt-ended skewer for step #13). The skewers should now have points on each end. |
| 9. |
Insert three meat skewers into the bottom of the artichoke at 120°angles to each other (for stability and security). Insert the other end of the skewers into the middle of the arrangement. The artichoke will give the centerpiece height. |
| 10. |
Cut the daisies on an angle. Insert them between the seafoam statice and the artichoke. If necessary, wire the daisies to give them stability. To wire a daisy, start at the top of the flower and wrap the wire sparingly around the stem several times, leaving plenty of space between each coil. When you reach the end of the stem, work your way back up to the top of the flower. |
| 11. |
Cut the spray roses on an angle. Use them to fill in between the artichoke and the daisies. The spray roses will hide the mechanics of the arrangement- the meat skewers and floral foam. |
| 12. |
Using the wired craft sticks, wrap the wire around the stems of the vine tomatoes. Insert the tomatoes randomly throughout the arrangement. |
| 13. |
Turn the arrangement and recheck to make sure that no mechanics are showing. Adjust flowers as needed. |
